Linus
LINUS-
After more than a year of searching the Petfinder.com website for a small dog to add to our pack, one came via the Village Veterinarian where Robbie works. She was looking for a pug or Boston terrier, but someone found a 10-week-old chihuahua puppy at the local Safeway. They couldn't afford to have another pet so brought it to the vet. His lineage was up for grabs. Kind of looked like a small Puggle mix with floppy ears. Without consulting Jon, Robbie brought him home from work the Friday before Halloween and stated "we're fostering him" until a home could be found. She gave him the name Linus 'cause he looked like "Linus and the Great Pumpkin" from Peanuts as he peered from behind the pumpkin on the counter.
Well, after getting up several times a night with the foster baby for "business" - the bond formed very quickly. He did/does have a "hideous" scream when he has a temper tantrum, but since we don't give him attention for that, thankfully, that behavior is very infrequent now. After just a few weeks and meeting the Luke clan, Jon realized that the foster chi was now a permanent resident. Sometimes his ears flop down; sometimes they're up.
It's great to have a smaller dog around to play with our smaller dog campers. He is fearless around the big dogs, including our own, and he is a quick learner. Besides eating, his favorite activities are racing around the living room and then cuddling under covers with Robbie on the couch or at bedtime or with his microwaved "warm guy." He is currently going through Basic Obedience with Robbie and turns out he's a smart little cookie to boot!
